Aug 15th 2007 9:16AM The funny thing is I know people whose chances of being home invaded is off the chart as to how unlikely it is. But they still boast about how they will blow the head off of anyone who tries it. I think it's just a matter of them wanting to blow someone's head off.

Aug 14th 2007 10:58PM I have friends who try that same ploy with me about owning a gun. It's just them trying to convince them self that they need one. They choose to own firearms. That's fine, why they want to impose that on the rest of us I don't understand.

Jul 15th 2007 9:03PM Every movement must go in steps and Jordan seems to everyone like the weakest link and the most incompetent at this point. If you were a part of the crime march back in January (not sure if you were or weren't) you would have seen many signs and heard many conversations regarding the entire system, Nagin and Riley included. So they aren't getting a free ride. They just aren't the focus of this protest.
And instead of asking me what Nagin might have to gain by making Jordan look bad (not that Nagin has to really do anything) or why Riley held a press conference, just TELL me what you are thinking. If you know or suspect something, just come on out and say it.
And Kelly, no you don't have to have a position, but it makes for more potent commentary when you do. Otherwise it's simple negativity.

Jul 15th 2007 7:55PM And that was your only response to a five paragraph comment? A snappy reply to an error I made and ignoring the rest? Do you have anything else to say regarding my responses?
Or maybe you could do us all a favor and, instead of posting cryptic questions to people who are motivated for change perhaps you could just go ahead and take a position instead of making snide remarks about caffeinated beverages and posing questions that bounce around some unknown point. Write strong and write concise and, most importantly, have a point.

Jul 15th 2007 3:20PM The next in line is a gentleman we know little about named G. Williams. But after Jordan's resignation, it is not the intent of the citizenship to walk away from the DAs office with Mr. Williams left to his own devices.
The ultimate goal is for the resignation of Jordan followed by the impending review of the National District Attorneys Association of the remaining officials. This, along with the appointment of a special prosecutor to help run the office and prosecute violent crime cases per the request of the New Orleans City Council will hopefully keep the DAs office afloat until the next election.
Nobody is heading into this with only bloodletting in mind. But rest assured, we are demanding that there be a resignation and we aren't backing away from that. Is it a symbolic gesture? Sure. History is full of them. But it is also intended to be a display of unity against poor civic leadership.
As for the media and the press conferences, this thing tomorrow was put together via cell phones and e-mails among citizens. It wasn't conjured up by a taskmaster.
The reason why Jordan is being ousted is because, well, Jefferson is under indictment, and I'm not sure Nagin and Riley are as responsible for the state of affairs as Jordan is. They bear some blame yes. But, when a man's politics costs the city millions of dollars in settlement money and his and his staffs continuing incompetence lets killer after killer run the streets of the city, it doesn't take a political strategist to determine who should be the first to be ousted.

May 29th 2007 11:46AM I feel ya. Sometimes, I'd rather them not ask. It's almost like when you lose somebody, and everybody for the few months after keeps coming up to you asking you how you're doing? Sometimes you just want to get back to living normally.
