Massively's Massive Giveaways - Win a 24" Samsung LCD Monitor! [Updated]

Nov 17th 2007 9:53AM Cool! But that would mean I'd have to replace the rest of my computer too. Don't think I could squeeze the card into either of these laptops...

Second Life services experiencing widespread failure

Oct 28th 2007 9:49AM I submitted a ticket yesterday regarding a few regions' awful performance. Time Dilation and Sim FPS were fluctuating between normal and *broken*. Not sure if it has anything to do with this morning's problems, but it seems awfully coincidental if not.

If SL Disappeared Tomorrow, Where Would You Go?

Second Life Insider

Oct 17th 2007 11:39PM I've thought about it at times too, especially when an update seems to wreck havoc on my laptop. Most of my closest friends are connected via Twitter or at the very least, an outside IM like Yahoo or AIM.
I wonder if I'd be able to just go back to IM and chat while doing other things with my time...*gulps*
(for the record, I don't foresee SL going anywhere anytime soon)

Sep 26th 2007 5:30AM I think this is really interesting, but I'm coming from a teaching perspective. A teacher's strike may not go so long as to cut into the required 180 days of instructional time for students, according to PA's state law.
Striking in SL may mean that they are still working, but peacefully protesting the terms of their contract as a unified workforce. (Maybe it shouldn't be called a "strike"?)

An outsider's perspective - is he wrong?

Jul 2nd 2007 10:31AM "Tourists" had an interest in Second Life...otherwise they wouldn't have downloaded the client, installed, created an account, etc.
When I started, it was to club...honestly. Then after about 4 days, I thought "I need to learn to do stuff." *searched under "Education"*
From that first search, I was hooked. I found classes, became an instructor, discovered furry and neko cultures, and have made some incredible friends.
The "jumping off point" is different for everyone. Tourists need to ask themselves "What did I come in here for?", then search for something along those lines. Did you come in to build? Learn to build! How 'bout learning to make clothes? Network with some clothes designers in-game! If you just want a partner, you have to be friendly and social!

Good luck! (I'm always in there if you're bored...I'm good at taking people on field trips)
