Wonderland scandal spreads through the media

Second Life Insider

Oct 30th 2007 11:51PM When I saw the Sky news blog earlier today, I wondered how far that might go given the previous incidents. Guess I shouldn't have underestimated the power of a juicy headline.

Oct 18th 2007 11:48AM Thanks for calling this to my attention. I usually follow Design News, but for some weeks now I've not surfed through. Now I have another reason to read their material.

Coke campaign officially a success and not over

Aug 28th 2007 11:23AM Tony could be entirely correct regarding the *externals* of the competition. But so what? Unless he has insider information, who is he to say that his measure of "success" aligns with Coca-Cola's program goals? It's conceivable to me that their goals may have nothing to do with the things he or anyone else outside the company can measure.

If Coca-Cola is experimenting - willing to "fail early, fail often" - then I say good for them. It's what people like me... and I thought Tony... were saying companies *needed* to do at this early stage of virtual world development; precisely because a "bust" might yield invaluable insights and help companies develop innovative solutions for this new medium.

Personally, I don't know if Coca-Cola succeeded based on their *own* standards, and I don't care if they succeed based on *any* standards. I only care about some of the bigger issues on which they may have some impact - the trademark issue, general guidelines for competitions, aso.

Worrying about the success or failure of one company's first effort into SL seems like not only a waste of time, but a tacit agreement that the myopic position taken by Forbes and BusinessWeek and the other business magazines, who too often seem to be evaluating success or failure based on old school metrics, is a proper position for the rest of us to take at this stage. I didn't agree with them then, and I don't agree now.

Aug 22nd 2007 10:25AM I'm with Juliet. From the moment I was approached on Twitter, I had a feeling this was some kind of marketing play. I'd rather opt in on my own than have someone try to lure me in with direct contact.

Jul 22nd 2007 8:25AM If she's a resident, apparently she's relatively new. The name "Balogh" is a recent addition, if I'm not mistaken. And of course she doesn't have a custom skin (which another reviewer pegged as being a differentiator).

Not bad. Although the biggest error imo is saying that Second Life is open source. Not only does that conflict with the "ownership" comment preceeding it, but it's simplistic and effectively inaccurate. Oh well.

When Bloggers Call

Second Life Insider

Jul 18th 2007 4:50PM Why does this entry feel related to an "Anon" post on the SLH?

To answer the question: No. I don't think calling is appropriate if there isn't a relationship already established through mutual consent of both parties.
