Italian opera great Pavarotti dies of cancer

The Cancer Blog

Sep 6th 2007 10:09PM In the same way Pavorotti popularized the operatic tradition, I hope his untimely death will serve to popularize the deadly disease that took him. Pancreatic Cancer research is underfunded. It must be better funded if we will ever make stides towards earlier diagnosis, effective treatment, and ultimately, hope. The Maestro was fortunate to have battled out a year of life ... my husband of 48 years succumbed 57 days after diagnosis ... he was looking for a referral to physical therapy for back pain, and that inquiry led to the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I am a music lover, and a fan of Maestro Pavorotti's art. I hope his brave battle against a much-feared disease will help put pancreatic cancer in the limelight for FUNDING!
