Jul 2nd 2008 2:19PM This is sorta like the world sending the US into the corner for a timeout.. It's not Bad... but it's not the fluffy bunnies and puppy dog lollipops we're used to..

And: The next person that blames anything on the price of gas -- I'm going to shake them.. Because the rest of the world has been dealing with expensive gas for years now... The suck of it is, theirs is because of Taxes.. Ours is because of dependence.

Overall, I agree with you -- But, I really hope that Americans learn something from all of this -- and become more aware of the consequences of debt, gluttony, and being frivolous.

However, I think the key to a full recovery -- And the most interesting part of the economy right now -- are the Baby Boomers. This is the first year that the baby boomer generation is starting to retire.. How can we get all the money and equity they have built up over the last 20-30 years back into the economy?

Are they planning to buy smaller homes? Can we convince them to trade in their luxo barges for more economical American made compacts? Can we get them traveling fueling tourism? Are they going to spend money on their wellness fueling the health care industry? etc. etc.

To me it's an untapped market.. And it's something that I'm really interested to see how it pans out.. I really think that US companies, and the government need to market to these people to help fuel the economy.

Will we bounce Back? Yup.. Will we learn anything? Dear god I hope so.. Will we innvate? Hell yeah! We're about ready to have a unindustrial revolution -- moving from "brute force manufacturing" to more graceful and efficient "product production". It'll be rad

In the end, Regardless of how bad people may think the US economy is, it's still the only place in the world where any Joe Schmo can (legally) become a millionaire over night...

Would you bike more if you had a separated lane?

Green Daily

Mar 26th 2008 11:16AM I would bike more if there was a better job pulling bad drivers off the street.

All too often I see people on their cell phones weaving in and out of bile lanes... Or whipping around a corner without stopping... Just way too dangerous for my tastes..

LOGO's comeback

The Brian Alvey Weblog

Oct 18th 2007 10:02AM When I was little, my sister was a Brownie and my mom was the Brownie leader. Because of this I would always get dragged along to all the Brownie fun and Games.

I distinctly remember going to Sesame Place in Langhorn, PA with the Brownies -- While there one of the activities was in their computer lab Playing with LOGO. I was fascinated by it, and in fact remembered seeing it in a Mr. Wizard Episode -- So I felt like a 6 year old George Michael making my triangle dance like to "Careless Whisper". (Don't Judge, It was like 1985 -- We just though Wham was a very sensitive group...)

That Day I realized two very important things in my life.

1. Computers were most likely in my future.
2. Older Women in Braces are Hot...
