The Cancer Blog

Sep 18th 2007 2:19AM I was diagnosed in Feb 2004 (age 45) with triple negative grade 3 (9 out 9 on the Richardson Scale) invasive ductal endecarcinoma. Had extensive necrosis within the tumor. The tumor size increased from .75 cm to 1.75 cm in one month. Had a lumpendectomy that had a microscopic amount of cancer in 1 of 3 lymph nodes.

Completed 2 rounds of chemo. Developed capiliary leakage syndrome was very ill. Had very other symptom except for blood was normal. Lost my toenails 4 times and finger nails 3. Was told by oncologist and cardiologist that I can never take chemo ever again. Had 5 weeks of Radiation with 1 week boost.

I am very concerned about my cancer metastasizing or reocurring. Have been quite ill with abdominal, back and bowel issues the last several months. Going for a bone scan, abdominal scan, gastroscopy, colonoscopy.

Decided to have both breasts removed hopefully in the next 2 months or so with reconstruction.

My oncologist put me at a stage 1, after the 1st year I am now seeing a consulting physician under him. He does not seem concerned about my cancer returning. I am very fearful that since I only had 2 cycles of chemo it would not count in treating my breast cancer. I am so scared that it has come back.

Has anyone else developed this syndrome??
