The Wal-Mart Weekly: Employees with smiling faces (maybe)
BloggingStocks
Jun 21st 2007 12:24PM I have worked for Walmart for 17yrs and I am totally behind the company. They were there for us during the Hurricane and assisted us anyway they could. There were trucks at the Superdome and the Convention Center to help bring in food, only to be turned away. I had a greatgrand child die a few months and the store was behind us with much needed money. You don't hear things like this in the news, all you hear is the negative. I am sure that if there is another hurricane (God, please NO)they will stand behind their employees and help us. The only complaint I have is the 20items or less check-out, I would like to be able to say, "Which 20 items do you want?" Customers ignore that it is an Express check-out and then we have to deal with the customers behind complaining. Where has decency gone?

Wal-Mart Supercenters good for fringe and rural customers?

Jul 7th 2006 10:20PM Mr. noitall, I wish you were here during last years hurricane. Walmart was at the superdome and convention center with food, supplies and water and were turned away by a government agency that I will not mention. They sent trucks to churches with supplies that we loaded on trucks and brought back to churches in the hardest hit areas of Louisiana. They opened their doors to the hospitals, police and guard people, to get food and supplies. During this time all the Walmarts in my area were looted after this. The gave all employees money to help them during the time off, and to assist them in repairs. The employees also could work at any Walmart near the area where they evacuated. I worked for 10 Cardiologists, fulltime and Walmart parttime, and the only thing the doctor's office did, was lay me off when I came back, because they said since I was 65 and drawing SSN, I didn't need to work. Walmart has more compassion than the doctor's office.
Is Wal-Mart really on the way to being "greener"?

Jun 14th 2006 12:04AM I, too am an employee of Wal-Mart and I am very proud to admit it. Do any of you know that Wal-Mart was at the Superdome, and the Convention Ctrn with trucks of food and water and were turned away, during Hurricane Katrina. They opened all the local stores so the hospitals and police could get supplies before the looters took all the rest. They gave their employees checks to help them out during the Hurricane. Everyday when I come to work I see the evidence of theft, trashed aisles and rude customers that think they can say anything to us, because we can't talk back. I hope someday that people will learn the Golden Rule and live by it.

Have you heard the calliopes on the river, and seen the paddlewheels go by?
The thought of no more musical sounds, makes one want to cry.
Have you tasted beignets in the Quarter, and gotten sugar all over you?
The little taste of Heaven, it's worth all that, it's really true
Have you heard the sound of jazz, that fills the musical Quarter?
And felt the breeze off the Mississippi, and stood on the levee and seen the water?
Have you seen the little children, with a bead that they caught?
Yelling, "Throw me something, mister," is something that they sought.
Have you seen the beautiful buildings, the architecture of the past
The iron railings and the balconies, that were built to forever last.
Have you gone to a Saints game, and started to really cheer,
Then they goofed the play, and you thought, "wait until next year."
Have you held New Orleans in your heart so very tight
That you can't imagine the city, not being here day and night.
We must rebuild New Orleans, the world needs a bit of joy,
The future of this city, will enlighten every girl and boy.
The history that is New Orleans, shows of it's special love,
And it will be rebuilt with the help of the good people and God above
