Everyone has to leave the computer once in a while and I'm not looking to see people punished for something like that. I myself either tell my battlegroup "sorry have to afk a sec will brb" so they at least know, or I'll afk out if it's not going to be a fast thing.
The players that enter a battleground and do nothing but afk are a real problem though. In my humble opinion the best fix is to apply a 3 strikes rule. In you are reported as afk in 3 different battlegrounds in a 24 hour period by more than 3 players then you should have the deserter status applied to you for the next 24 hours.
This is a fair system that would accomplish what we really need it to.
