Newbie Tip: Feel No Shame or Fear
Second Life Insider
Jul 31st 2006 7:35PM Your comment, "Perhaps it's the stigma attached to the term 'newbie'", certainly makes me think. I shall try to remember it in the future. To someone who has been around a short while and who has helped a few folks (I think) at The Shelter and elsewhere I tend to use the word "Newbie" as a standard part of my in-world vernacular. I forget that when I first started I was either completely unfamiliar with the term or considered those using it in my direction as either elitist or hostile. I shall endeavor to use different terminology. All I really wanted to say was "Oh, you're experiencing Second Life for the first time! Wonderful! How may I help you?"
Rock on cousin Akies.

Introduction: Akela Talamasca
Second Life Insider
Jul 18th 2006 1:31PM Huh - I did not know you chose the last name for that reason. Compared to the other options presented at the time I chose Talamasca due to the Ann Rice references. You left off the Mayfair witches, btw.

Jul 18th 2006 1:22PM Akies - this looks like a chat session for the Shelter here :) Why is everyone slamming Sunday at the Shelter? (I know - the formal with big prim dresses, but I host two shows on Sundays so it gives me a complex)

Jul 18th 2006 11:48AM Akela, nice post and a fine summary of the Second Fortune experience. FireEyes Fauna does a great job hosting it. It's always fun to watch, the audience "participation" is always good fun.
