Nov 2nd 2007 3:46AM Well well well...fancy seeing you here, Moo. ;-)
Even though John Swift got away with it I'm not so sure SL residents will fare the same. What Facebook doesn't want are folks using false identities, and sometimes it may not be easy to tell a person roleplaying a fictional character from a person simply using their SL name as a nom de plume. They may not care and just place a blanket ban on using your "game" name in a profile.
Of course, I don't understand why you'd want to put an elf or other fictional character's profile up on a mundane service like Facebook, anyway. Perhaps just me... :-)
Anyway, if this is the new home of SLIers that was alluded to then welcome and best of luck!

A Quick Thought on Business in SL
Second Life Insider
Jul 30th 2007 3:51AM Wow, the power goes out inworld for a little while and both Sheep and SLIngers start navel gazing. I just got done reading Cory Edo's post on the real value of SL http://blogs.electricsheepcompany.com/cory/?p=37 and despite her remarks at the end what I'm reading from tonight is definitely "Hey corps, don't let the door hit ya on the way out."
I commented tonight on some company's Chief Forward Looking Dude's blog post about how he, too, is giving up and doesn't "get SL." After writing a nice sized bit on what he probably didn't notice while in-world I deleted it. I really didn't care if he got it or not. I know why I'm there, I know why people I associate with are there, and beyond that the world can pound sand. I'm not here to do some firm's research for them or hold their hand while they figure out new and boring ways to sell me something. I'll see Mr. Corporate Futurist in my rear-view mirror.
I'm chalking it up to natural selection. Those entities, corp or not, that wish to delve in and figure out their place in a virtual space, if any, will have positive (or at least productive) experiences. Those that come in with expectations that we're all couch potatoes or blindly trust the words of a salesperson will get rolled.
Nautilus continent nearly complete, Corsica coming soon

Jul 8th 2007 2:12PM I have a map that IDs the southern continent as Sansara, and the SL History wiki has a listing with that name as well. Whether it's "official" or not, who knows. I do know if should have a name, though. The SL History Wiki appears to be down this morning, but here is the link anyway for later:

Jul 19th 2006 5:03PM Oh drat! I've been developing a site with the same travel agengy/travel guide metaphor to have a little fun and get more people interested in exploring SL more. Looks like I've got a little validation in my project here...as well as some friendly competition for eyeballs! :)
In the end, the more sites like this the better. The same question still appears when old/new media discuss SL, "I've signed up, now what do I do?" Any resource that helps answer that question is a good thing.
Best of luck tpTravel!
