Residents complaining of widespread performance drop

Jul 2nd 2007 5:00PM Whew! I thought it was just me (and my wifey). We haven't been able to do much at all the last few days. Poseballs will animate ONE of us if we are lucky. Changing clothes is a nightmare. We find our head contorted ala Linda Blair quite frequently. We can't take pictures. We can't rez objects we own on our own land. Then there are random crashes and other unexplainable phenomenon. I'm going to vote on this issue.
Linden's not billing correctly?

Jun 18th 2007 8:17AM Oh good! I thought it was just me. I have a premium account and Paypal backed up by a credit card and a bank account, and I must have tried 50 times to make a transaction over the last week. Every single time it failed.
This was the first time in my SL experience I ever found myself looking for help from LL, and I must say, what a pain in the rear that was! It's impossible to navigate a less-than-readable knowledge base for something you don't really know the answer OR question to.
It didn't help that the Support Portal (which I'm still not sure I ever found) was apparently down for a couple of days.
Frustrating...indeed.

Jan 1st 2007 11:00PM Is it just me, or does anyone else think they should be giving us Lindens in return for all the downtime lately? Perhaps they should pay everyone what the average camping chair pays out - about 2 Lindens every 10 minutes. This would appease the SL masses, AND give the Lindens incentive to repair the problems, or prevent them from occuring in the first place.
Wishful thinking, sure, but this is getting so annoying!

Dec 21st 2006 4:21PM Yes. But we made ammends and now our relationship is stronger than ever. I still don't understand how I am in love with an unkown person on the other end of a bunch of 1's and 0's, but I am.

Nov 6th 2006 2:17PM I did like Comodo, but when I tried it a couple of months ago, it didn't support Fast User Switching in Windows XP - pretty crucial if you want to protect your PC under any account that is logged in.
I'm still using ZoneAlarm just because I haven't found something better. I'm not crazy about it, so perhaps I'll try one of these other recommendations until Comodo support FUS.

Aug 19th 2006 11:18PM Having worked for a federal IT contractor for a couple of years, I have seen first hand the problems with this sort of thing. The reason the government likes hiring contractors is because they have someone to blame for their own shortcomings and disorganization.
On the contractor side, you have to provide what the client wants, and most of the time, the client doesn't know what they want. Or they change the specs over and over during development. Or they argue for so many months about the best way to do it, deadlines come and go without being met.
I worked for a small USAF opertation for which I was doing web development. I shudder to think what something larger-scale would be like.
