Second Life premium accounts experience "Negative Growth"
Second Life Insider
Aug 11th 2007 5:15PM On the other hand, I signed up in SL back in June 2005, back when there was two choices, a one-time $9.95 for basic, or $9.95/mo premium.. Later on, last October, after things kept getting worse and worse, I sold my land and dropped back to basic.. But recently noticed an interesting thing.. The yearly $72 works out to $6.00US a month, and with the 500L weekly stipend, which I used to get prior to last October, and was led to believe I would NOT recieve when changing back to premium, rather the current 300L weekly stipend.. Well, take 500L/wk @ ~280L/$ which is $1.79 times 4.33 is $7.74/month.. Can this be right??
LL is paying me to be premium??? Since I'm addicted to SL, so long as this lasts, I'll continue to stay premium.....

Jun 18th 2007 9:12PM This is just one more data-point leading to the conclusion that LindenLab is gone..gone..gone..
Last week, stupid me thought she might buy a cute little lot and to do so, I would have to sign up for premium again.. Tried to do so ALL weekend, kept getting "an error has occurred" when I tried to click on the annual payment premium. After trying a couple of times, I get a call from the Visa fraud squad asking me if had tried to do business with a LindenLab.. Told them yes.. God help me YES!!!!
Thought perhaps the acct was flagged and after talking to Visa, it might work.. no such luck.. Finally got tired of trying, and called LL on Monday, and they said 'oh.. that error should not be occurring.." DUH!!
After the CSR tried several things without effect, I happened to mention that the card was credit union Visa.. The CSR said "Oh.. Credit union credit cards dont work with our payment processor..." I mentioned that the card I was trying to use was the same one I signed up with two years ago... LL is getting more and more absurd... Too bad they control something that I am addicted to.... Sorry for the rant.. HI Akela!! Sorry they're messing with you too....

LL optimizes inventory by ... removing it?
Second Life Insider
Apr 15th 2007 1:17PM Even though I've not had this problem "yet".. (knock_on_wood), a phrase from Saturday Night Live comes to mind, ie: "Not_Ready_For_Prime_Time_Players", which seems to describe Linden Labs to a tee.. Since they've been soo focused on attracting big business, and growing the resident count, they seem to have completely forgotten about carefully growing the backend infrastructure REQUIRED to support a concurrency of well over 30K users and nearly 5 1/2 million accounts... I've been around since Jun '05 and if I wasnt completely addicted to this wacky world, I'd be long gone.. And I can't believe I'm the only one feeling this way... I'm pretty much here just for the social aspect, having sold my land back last October, and dropped back to a basic account...

Feb 24th 2007 12:33PM Hey Akela!! Long time no see!!
#1 on my wishlist is the ability to see and organize inventory from the webpage! Hands down this is a must-have!! Of course, the ability to IM from the page would be nice too!! It would also be very nice to be able to upload/download textures/pictures via the webpage, of course, still with the blasted 10L charge, I'm sure... Coupled with this, it would soo great to have the capability to back up locally inventory items.. I, for one, have completely lost two projects I'd been working on, in one of those mysterious asset server hiccoughs.. I did have all the scripts/textures for them backed up locally, but not the prims..

Unauthorized Second Life server lives

Feb 1st 2007 8:17PM This brings up a question or three... Is this simply the "simulator" server, ie: you still need the LL asset server/login server, or could I run this on one of my spare systems, and login to it, and use it as a 16 acre private sandbox?? THAT is what I would desperately LOVE to have.. Anybody know??

Zee Linden warns Risk API puts you at risk. L$ not to be trusted.

Jan 17th 2007 8:53PM Well ain't that a hoot?? Wonder what LL will do to fix this... Kind of like Microsoft and the recent MSWord exploits, where MS's measured response to the exploit is:
"Don't open recieved Word documents..." d'oh.. I'm beginning to wonder if LL learned security programming from Microsoft... As much as I love SL, this is getting too much..

Login problems

Jan 6th 2007 3:55PM I've come to the conclusion that they don't want to hear from us..
When they first started this idiotic blog-thingie, comments were on most of the time, and during an outage, you could find out readily if it was you or everybody having issues... Now, they just don't care. LL makes all the usual expected customer service lip-movements, but really could care less what the average SL resident thinks/wants/needs.. Call me cynical, but they seem to be going the same way as every other corporation.. They apologize profusely when the system doesn't work, but so long as their venture capitalists/stockholders are happy, they could care less about the ideas/wishes of the residents... The only reason I'm still here is that I'm sort of addicted to this darned world..

Just Askin': Do you have an alt and why?
Second Life Insider
Jan 3rd 2007 5:07PM I have two, one which is used quite a bit, and the other, was obtained simply because you needed three members to a group.. (is that still the case??) My primary alt is my machinima camera-girl, logged in my industrial-strength workstation, doing the FRAPS video recording, and my primary av (me, Tas) logs in the laptop, and stars in my videos (none of which are done yet...)
Just Askin': Do you have an arch-enemy?
Second Life Insider
Dec 24th 2006 3:38PM I sure do... Though I suspect the person is no longer in SL.. He used to be a friend, then he severely screwed another friend of mine, and caused a LOT of drama.. Now I would definately have to call this person an arch-enemy... Hint: If you're familiar with the recent drama at the Shelter, you may be able to figure out who this arch-enemy might be... No names here, mind you...

Just Askin': Do you dip or dive?
Second Life Insider
Dec 16th 2006 2:28PM I'm both.. If I'm in a building mood, and working on one of my projects AND I'm on my laptop, I'm a dipper, in-out-out-in, because the laptop is barely capable of running SL alone, I can't have Photoshop and a webbrowser open at the same time, so the login process gets used a LOT.. However, my home machine is industrial strength (P4D/2Gb RAM), so I'm a major diver.... This article reminds me that I've gotten so involved with my current pet project, an underwater club, that I've been neglecting exploring this big wacky wonderful world we live in.....
