TV Guide picks the best pilots (and gets it wrong)

TV Squad

Sep 6th 2008 1:11PM The Desperate Housewives pilot has always been praised for how good it is. It really sets the tone for the entire series, with a perfect balance of pathos and humor.

You can already order NBC's Olympics DVDs

Aug 22nd 2008 8:37PM I'd buy the opening and closing ceremonies as package. It's not worth it just to see one part of the ceremonies.

Desperate Housewives: The Gun Song / Free (season finale)

TV Squad

May 19th 2008 1:36AM YAY!

That was amazing! What happened to my show? It's gone but at LEAST they're trying to improve it, go back to the roots of what made these women so relatable. At least I think that's Marc Cherry's goal. I can't wait to see what they come up with next season. I really excited.

May 19th 2008 1:20AM Forget this, where's the Desperate Housewives review?

Sorry, I'm kinda impatient.

Desperate Housewives: In Buddy's Eyes

TV Squad

Apr 21st 2008 12:06AM The Scavo menaces totally set that fire. That's why we saw them overhearing Lynette and Rick's argument. Evil little bastards!

This episode was FANTASTIC. Waaaay better than last week, funny and touching, dark and light, the perfect blend we've come to expect from DH.

Ten awkward TV moments

TV Squad

Apr 15th 2008 3:06PM An even more awkward DH moment from season 1.

Let's set the scene, Bree has invited her friends and neighbors to one of her famous dinner parties. She's keeping up perfect appearances, so of course her friends have no idea that she and Rex are going to marriage counseling. It would kill her if they knew. So NATURALLY Rex tells them. This sets Bree's mind on revenge which leads us to one of the most awkward moments in dinner party history as Bree announces to the whole table...

Bree: Rex cries when he ejaculates.

TV Squad Soap Report: The new Guiding Light is not working

TV Squad

Apr 3rd 2008 3:12PM To be honest when I watch GL now I feel like I'm watching a snuff film. All of these odd close-ups of the actors' faces, the shaky camera, the horrible lighting.

Some of this might be overlooked if the stories were good or at least made sense. But they don't. Characters change motivation on a daily basis. The show right now is more about the aesthetic than the storytelling and that should never be the case on any type of show but especially a soap which is ALL about the characters.

Desperate Housewives: Something's Coming

TV Squad

Dec 2nd 2007 11:54PM I'm still getting over it 2 hours later. I've never had an hour of television leave my heart pounding like and utterly breathless at the end.

WOW.

I love that we saw exactly where the money went because that last shot? Beautiful. Horrifying. Breathtaking.

Damn these strikes! I don't think I can wait to see what happens!

Desperate Housewives: Now I Know, Don't Be Scared

TV Squad

Nov 5th 2007 12:32AM How brilliant and poignant was that last scene with Lynette? DH doesn't make me cry usually but I seriously came close. Props tp Felicity Huffman. Wow.

Also Joy Lauren (Danielle) showed that playing Marcis Cross' daughter has finally rubbed off on her, handing the baby over to Bree was HANDS DOWN her best work in the entire series. Incredible job.

Desperate Housewives: Art Isn't Easy

TV Squad

Oct 29th 2007 1:43AM I thought this ep had some killer lines.

Mrs. McCluskey: Bree you talk to them, you can relate to them.

Bree: Why would you say that?

Mrs. McCluskey: You got a kid that came flying out of the closet and a husband who's been looking for the door knob. [beat] Well, you've met him!

Susan: Not to brag but I went to art school.

Mrs. McCluskey [under her breath]: Community college.

Lynette: You're comparing Katherine to a Nazi?

Ida: Yeah, we gotta show those gays that we mean business!

Susan: Ida, again the issue is not Bob and Lee being gay, it's the fountain.

Ida: Well, can't it be both?

Lee: A vote for Katherine is a vote for fascism.

Ida: What is it with you gay people and fashion?

Lynette: "Fascism", Ida, not "fashion".

Bob [to Ida]: Though if you ever do want to talk fashion, we're here for you.
