The Daily Grind: Too hard to bard?
Massively
Jul 3rd 2008 10:26AM This is why I only work in social MMOs. I have no interest in constant pressure to achieve in the context of a game. My real life is already like that. In a gameworld, I'd just like to explore and see what there is to see.

Jun 27th 2008 2:24PM true enough. I rather expect most of SL will be offshored into a variety of grids within 10 years. The core of SL, or rather LL, will still exist, imo, but only as a service providing organ, which is prety much what LL says it wants. Whether this counts as SL "dying" or simply being transformed is, I suppose, a matter of perspective.

Jun 27th 2008 2:49AM "I am seeing the death of SL either way."
Funny how people keep seeing that, year after year. It's kind of like nuclear fusion: always arbitrarily far in the future.

Right on Ayn Rand, wrong on Pullman.
LL stops up a communication channel?

I dunno, this sounds markedly similar to the griping I heard from New York Yankee fans that led to the (unjust) firing of Joe Torre.
Not everyone considers the items mentioned by Jay as major "botch ups".
Akela's Wishlist: Make Second Life More Web 2.0
Second Life Insider
Oct 23rd 2007 10:47AM I think Akela is talking about more than web on a prim. Specifically making the objects within SL (avatars, prims, etc) objects that can exist within the web2.0 infosystem.
To some extent, the SL twitter application is an attempt to do this. But a more complex overhaul of the SL protocol will be necessary to make this truly realizable.

Oct 15th 2007 10:38AM I realize that "lower is better" for the grid stability index. But can we get a standard deviation on that measure, so we can some idea of the best and worst values we've seen in it over the last few weeks?
Thanks.
