A Dad creates an online community for his diabetic daughter

The Diabetes Blog

Oct 9th 2006 12:32AM I must add my name to the list of Hitchcock fans. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 at age 3, Christmas 1997. Our endo quit her practice one month after Annie's diagnosis and we floundered for months, virtually alone with this devastating new lifestyle, until I discovered Jeff and Brenda and their website: childrenwithdiabetes.com. I credit them and those first parents on their email list for saving my sanity and possibly my child's life. I'll never forget how they pulled me from the depths of despair, and for 9 years now they have provided the emotional support and practical information that sustains us. The first thing I do when learning of a newly diagnosed child is to forward the web address of CWD to the parents. CWD is an extended family that provides something no amount of money can buy, and I feel sorry for anyone who deprives herself or her child of the benefits of belonging to such a welcoming and deserving community. Bless you, CWD folk!
