What kind of computer do you use?
PC. Compaq Presario at the moment, 2GB ram, 850GB HDD, nVidia
How do you connect to the Internet (i.e. Service Provider)?
Cable broadband
What do you like most about Second Life?
The possibilities
Do you find yourself politically active in Second Life?
No
What is the most important thing you have taken away from Second Life?
Don't trust gaming companies
How does it differ from other forms of entertainment experiences (i.e. T.V., Movies, other Videogames, Books)?
Besides being interactive, it is a nice 'blank slate' that you, in theory, could do anything with
Do you feel that your actions in Second life have real world implications?
My actions? no... but I don't do much contraversial in SL
What is the biggest limitation of Second Life?
Availability.. it is never seeming to just work. Always a bug, or crash, or attack.
Following that - speed. I hate going somewhere and standing around like a dork for 20 minutes untill objects are loaded
Following that - interoperability with external actors irks me - makes me hit my head trying to interface to my RL website
Has Second Life ever influenced your life outside of the game? If so, how?
It has kept me up at night trying to figure out why a script isnt working, only to find the server was in the process of crashing.
Do you feel that real world issues are addressed and explored in Second Life?
No. And I do not necessarily think they need to be.
Do you feel that the Second Life experience has positive or negative real world implications? If so, what are they and how have they effected the real world?
It should be a wakeup call to any IT company who does not have disaster recover and backup plans. Ah, so this is the reason we make sure upgrades have something to fall back on if they do not work. Risk planning is a simple but important concept
Do you feel like Second Life allows for greater self expression?
To an extent. Virtual anonymous interactions relieve us from some preconceptions and allow us to act with less personal censorship than in real life.
How does the economy of Second Life affect the in-world experience?
To me, it is frustrating that the game is so capital based. It is one thing to be able to make money, but I would really enjoy the game better if that was not the entire premise. Would be nice to get away from the impression that 99% of SL is freaking garbage sales, casinos and sex. I know it isn't, but you would never be able to tell that from the classified, events and popular places
What are your feelings regarding possible government intervention into the virtual economies of games like Second Life?
If the virtual economy is closed (in game only) they should stay out 100%. If it is an open (as SL is) then they should have their say as people buy and sell L$. But at this point, I do not think they should be looking at holdings within the game.

Resident Numbers Disparity
Second Life Insider
Nov 2nd 2006 11:55AM Half a million residents logged in in the last 60 days - is that 499,223 unique logins (impressive)? or 8320 of the same residents logging in every day for 60 days? or 4160 residence logging in twice a day for 60 days? When I get booted off SL 4 times in an evening - does that cound as 5 logins?
72 Hours in SL and RL
Second Life Insider
Oct 12th 2006 3:42PM Fantastic concept. Will SL be up for the 72 hours she is planning on spending there? (slight barb intended)
