Aug 28th 2007 10:42AM I think Edan is lucky to have a father who cares so much about her--and it shows. I'm sure both she and your parents can see that!
Did it hurt you to breastfeed?
ParentDish
Aug 28th 2007 10:35AM It should not hurt to breastfeed. It can feel odd at first and you can experience a little cracking, etc. I would recommend, if she is able, to get a lactation consultant over to the house to work with her one on one. The hospital or wherever she delivered should be able to refer someone. I went to a class while in the hospital and the resident lactation consultant visited me. Both were real life savers, and, I'm happy to say, as a result I am still breastfeeding with the best of them! Good luck to your friend! I'm sure she'll be successful!

Aug 28th 2007 9:45AM Hi, everyone--and thanks so much for your suggestions! The iron ons sound like a great option if I can find a craft store in NYC. Seriously--I know there's gotta be one around here somewhere.
Michelle, however, made the comment of angels singing on high: LABEL MAKER!!! Now I am finally justified in getting one!
Thanks, everyone!!!

Aug 27th 2007 2:51PM What will happen to thw two young children of the couple who were shot? I am so saddened by the thought of those two poor babies now growing up as orphans, robbed of their parents for no good reason. If something can't--or WON'T--be done for the adults, then something MUST be done to protect our children.
Off to daycare

Aug 22nd 2007 3:44PM Hi, all. Thanks for your comments--all of which are welcome. To address MeMason, there was a point at which I felt that way, but I don't now. That may change--we'll have to see. My own mom explained it to me in a way that made so much sense: by going back to work she could do so much more for me. I feel that way too.
Also, the daycare is only a fifteen minute walk--my husband is dropping him off late and I am picking him up early, plus I'll be there at lunch time as much as possible. That makes a huge difference in my decision. If the daycare weren't such a good place that is pro-parent I might not have written that post.
If it doesn't work out, I can always opt to be a SAHM.
And, there are so many firsts I've already experienced, many more to come. I think I'll be there for most if not all of them. Let's just hope the folks at the daycare have the good grace to not tell me when my son has done something for the first time so I can assume he did it first in front of me!!! :)
