Jepetto Joybuzz and the Dalaran toy store

WOW Insider

Sep 27th 2008 6:21PM Wow... the Zepplin was supposed to be one of the TCG items. When you turned in your code from the Loot Card "Paper Airplane", your were (per the original description of the item) supposed to randomly get either a Paper GyroCopter kit or a Paper Zepplin kit. In the end they only got the GyroCopter done by the patch that was for the launch of that card release. (I have one of the GyroCopter kits, and I love amusing/annoying the raid by passing out a bunch and launching 5 at a time at people)

I find the fact the unimplemented one coming back as a 5 charge item, that makes _UNIQUE_ conjured zepplins (the GyroCopters stack are Unique(5), or they stack to 5 then you can't have any more on you) is a bit of an insult. However I'm glad to see them at all. I would like the ability to launch a swarm though to go with my GyroCopters.

Skill Mastery: Thunderstorm

WOW Insider

Sep 25th 2008 7:23PM I believe in a previous article somebody made the entirely amusing comment of a DeathKnight getting tossed off the landbridge to the flag in EotS by this skill, and then using their summon/taunt/grab (I forget the name of the skill) to drag the shaman to a death by abyss with them.

Personally I can't wait to see Shamans punting people off bridges and cliffs with this.

The fallacies of skill training plans in EVE Online

Massively

Sep 24th 2008 5:05AM I'll have to agree. I've put myself through the waiting and got to a point where I have some nice skills, all I do though is run a mission here or there or farm low level Deadspace marker pirate zones and salvage the hundreds of little corpses for cash and parts.

The massive disconnect in noticeable improvements from training and the huge time/cash risk you take every time you fly into low/null-sec is also a big turn-off for most newer and sometimes even experienced players.

Then again, I suppose they are looking for hardcore folks, who play with either fleet or unique (and to be nerfed) tactics. They have stated they want people playing rather than just logging in to change their skill training, but for the first month or so, that is seemingly all there is to do.... that or mine low lvl ores in over-farmed high-sec zones.

WoW Insider's preview of PopCap Games' Bejeweled addon

WOW Insider

Sep 20th 2008 1:48PM I doubt they can charge for the addon itself. However if it has some sort of meaningful backend (like WoWecon.com or WWS) then they could charge for it I believe. However, for Bejewled, I can't imagine any meaningful backend other than a global highscore site that you could break down by server/faction/race/class/playedtime/addonplayedtime/etc which would be interesting from a pure statistics standpoint, but wouldn't be worth 10-40 dollars. Maybe 1-2 bucks, but no more than 5 for the statistics splurge.

Collector's Edition and Blizzard Events items will become "Bound to Account"

WOW Insider

Sep 17th 2008 5:09PM While this had the possibility of being a good thing, how they are thinking of implementing it, plus the fact that it will only be for CE/Blizz Event things, and not for items gained from TCG Loot cards will put off a lot of people. Further, by doing this, they will be removing the ability to have new characters receive their pet or pet voucher in the mail (for CE owners). Which means you rely on having it on an older character _SOMEWHERE_. So if you have it removed on all your characters (due to stupidity or maliciousness by external forces) then your account is no longer special and you will never again be able to learn that pet.

Nice idea, but complete fail on implementation.

LOL Abuse in patch 3.0.2

WOW Insider

Sep 14th 2008 11:30PM actually, a lot of mail mods can auto clean out your mailbox of items (usually for AH Mules) and spammy in-game mails. Click, wait 30 seconds, close box and open up again for the next 80 mails and repeat.

Those of you who do massive AH postings, know what I mean about the approx 80 mails limit. It might be less or more, but the mailbox only pulls up so many mails at once. You have to clean some out and then close and open it again to see more.

Rogues in 8885: Tricks of the Trade

WOW Insider

Aug 30th 2008 9:52PM It does make me wonder how much damage and threat were to spike should a Hunter MD be used, plus several rogues TotT-ing the tank. Would the TotT buff stack? I think that would be a bit overpowered

While the rogue-chain of TotT would not work for transferring all final threat to the tank, the idea of Rogue A TotT->Rogue B (Rogue B has popped all trinkets+items+cooldowns to raise power) TotT -> Tank. Thusly causing a 15% surge in damage on Rogue B to cause even _MORE_ threat (especially with everything popped) to leach onto the Tank. Rogue B will take additional threat from Rogue A, but this will be vastly overshadowed by the Tanks threat gains (as the tank is also gaining +15% dmg, thereby also increasing the tanks own passive and skill threat generation)

This could also be used for Lulz or to "get even" with somebody particularly irksome in raid or in a 5man. Much like using MD to train mobs onto an AFK party/raid-member

Aug 26th 2008 10:53PM Actually to go along with the question about Draenei Racial +hit aura (going spell/melee instead of being differentiated by class origin), has that aura gone raidwide like Totems, Paladin's Auras, and Warlock Imp BloodPact?

Aug 19th 2008 1:47PM If I remember correctly, they will now be applied to your weapon like oils or sharpening stones. However, that loses the on-use effect of things like spellstones. However this new method have been removed I haven't checked on those since late alpha, early beta timeframe.
