What do you want play more: The Agency or Warhammer Online?
Massively
Mar 15th 2008 3:56AM personally drooling more over The Agency. a little burnt out on fantasy atm... also the gameplay looked really hot from what we saw at CES (... aaaaand i'm looking for an excuse to buy a PS3. although i think MGS4 will probably get me to that threshold long before The Agency)
GDC08: Raph Koster's 'Reinventing MMOs, a Metaplace 'antemortem''
Massively
Feb 28th 2008 12:06AM i've seen Raph speak many times (including 2 other times over the course of the GDC week, both of which were much more engaging than this one) and this was unfortunately the most uninspiring of all. the talk he gave during the Worlds in Motion Summit was much more interesting, although he didn't actually talk that much about MetaPlace in it:

i too am fan of MetaPlace and looking forward to trying it out, but this talk was extremely developer-oriented and technical -- which is sort of understandable given the venue (they don't call it a developer's conference for nuthin' and all :)).
The war of words for Sony's PlayStation Home and Second Life users begins
Massively
Feb 24th 2008 6:30PM i think it's less about Sony wanting to "replace Second Life" and more about them recognizing that players want naturally to form communities in spaces they already inhabit. they also tend to want to be able to customize their identities in those places -- so having a profile page in Xbox Live is cool, for example, but having an actual avatar and living space to personalize arguably has the potential to be a "better" or more compelling experience for players.
i don't think Sony expects a teeming horde of gamers to actually go out and buy PS3s just to experience Home -- it's more about adding value to the online multiplayer experience that already exists there.
that said, this guy's comments are obviously marketing speak. regardless, i think Home is an interesting product -- kind of boring as implemented right now but has a ton of potential to become much cooler as features are added over time.

for someone who loves sandbox games, GTA and Crackdown, it was amazing to finally see what Realtime Worlds has planned for the game. the character customization tools were unbelievable.
