Jan 13th 2007 7:03AM "That being said, I view a blog much like being in someone's home for a discussion."
This is a false analogy, UNLESS the blog in question has some sort of membership system where the owners of the blog can decide who is allowed to view it. SLI does not fall into this category; anyone with an internet connection is free to view. Therefore in order for the analogy to be valid, "someone's home" would have to have its front door permanently open, and a sign up saying "THIS HOUSE OPEN TO ALL TO COME IN FOR A DISCUSSION".
I have to say I find it incredible that anyone can have such a severe problem with an opinion they happen to disagree with, or wording they happen to opine is "rude", simply being visible on a web page that they have to have it permanently banned! Good grief, what do you do when you go to a newspaper stand and find some bad-taste article on the front page of a tabloid? Ask the vendor to burn all the copies? Write to the publisher and demand that all the copies be returned?
You see a post by someone whom you know "winds you up", the solution is simple: don't read it.
You say nobody has a god given right to be rude. I say nobody has a god given right to tell me, or anyone else, what they should, or shouldn't find acceptable or unacceptable.
Yes you're right, Prok does have his own blog, and I do read it. In fact, I read it long before I even knew who Prok was, simply because it happened to be both challenging and, I might say, well written.
It is also one of the most visited SL blogs in existance, so quite clearly not everyone feels the need to have the "correct opinion as dictated by the writers of Second Lide Insider".
And on that note, I shall delete this site from my Favorites list, and bid you all a good day.

Jan 8th 2007 4:47PM Whether a post is "self congratulatory, snide or rude" is purely subjective, and even if the majority of others find that a post fits the above description, that doesn't mean that (a) it's not TRUE, or (b) that it shouldn't be allowed to be aired.
It is also a rather sad state of affairs if we propose to ban postings for being "too long". I realise that many people here have a 30 second attention span, or find it difficult to get their minds around words with more than two syllables, but it is never too late to learn.
The fact of the matter is quite plain and simple. This forum, like much of the SL websites, appears to be dominated by rather immature people who cannot stand the fact that not everyone agrees with their point of view, and are too lazy or incapable to argue back in an intelligent way, therefore the best way forward is to ban anyone who dares to offer a dissenting view.
I wonder if the same outcome would have transpired had it been the case that Prok had been revealed to be, in real life, a 25 year old guy? Somehow, I doubt it.
In summary: pathetic.

What on earth does any of that have to do with banning him? OK, fine, he's not the centre of attention. OK, fine, not everyone agrees with him. Thats perfectly acceptable. But then, why the ban?
I think what YOU need to get used to is that, yes, SL has expanded, but that it is also being mismanaged to the point of ridicule, it is going down the pan rapidly, not least of all because its being run by a bunch of immature tossers who cannot stand to hear any criticism and hence will never improve the so called service they provide.
And yes, people who dont like what LL are doing are free to leave, I know all the rhetoric. Just as LL employees are free to sod off and work in MacDonalds if they don't like to hear criticism.
But lets face it, with a sizeable proportion of their own customer base sticking their tongues firmly up LL's backsides, why the hell should they bother? Lap up the limelight guys, while you can still afford the lease on your offices.

This cynical approach may have been worsened by living through 1.7, but I can assure you that it has always been with me in one form or another :o)
