Massively
Dec 20th 2007 10:21AM Thanks for the writeup! Grace's Musimmersion event was covered at New World Notes: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2007/11/musimmersion-ca.html
This event is limited, by necessity, to 20 avatars. People can pre-register with Fandango Milena (SL), the Orange community manager, to reserve a seat. The Q&A afterwards, as Grace discusses her inspirations, thoughts on virtual art, and future plans, is open to all.

Digital native or immigrant? Just askin'
Second Life Insider
Apr 5th 2007 2:38PM I'm so much a digital native that I say I 'grew up on the internet.' It has little to do with what I think should work best for other people, but rather what does work best for me. That's reading on screens, typing notes, email over phone/snailmail, and always, ALWAYS being connected with my social network.
It's what works for me. I do like the term 'polychronic' as well, and found the inclusion of "forming deep, lifelong friendships" as a common attribute especially interesting.

Feb 26th 2007 5:48PM Hey Doubledown, those are good questions. This will be a simulcast of a live taping of Matt/Bliargh's radio show, In Limbo Radio, on the radio station KRTU (http://www.krtu.org) tonight.
The musicians will be live in the studio with Matt, who will be logged in to the SL studio to facilitate questions and comments from the SL crowd as well as his usual call-in questions.
I hope this helps you make your decision about attending! Feel free to email me or Matt or drop either of us an IM in world if you have more questions.

Feb 3rd 2007 2:03PM Fabulous article, Tateru! The product strategy or the 'not present' hype strategy are some of the things we frequently have to overcome with clients. For us, it's important not only to bring our clients in to the metaverse, but to provide them with a viable strategy for sustainable and effective virtual worlds presence.
Here you've outlined many of the reasons that in most cases products don't work and demonstrated how easily people distinguish between a true presence and a drive-by hype-driven presence. Do you mind if we use this article in future discussions with clients?

Just Askin': Does smiling count?
Second Life Insider
Dec 25th 2006 8:45AM I actually have my gestures set up so my av does smile when I use emotictions. :) is the small smile, :D is the toothy smile (in spite of my skin's remarkable lack of teeth), and :( for a frown.
They are subtle, and I'm not sure anyone's ever noticed, but I like them.
