What is Involvium?

Second Life Insider

Aug 22nd 2007 4:05PM Oh good. Something else the Lindens can say went wrong with the grid now?

"[10:09 AM PDT] Operations is investigating a disruption to in-world Search, related services, teleports, IMs, chat, sound, walking, attachments going up your butt, rezzing anything at all, and the complete disappearance of all your L$ and land. We think it has something to do with the amazingly new and exciting Involvium Crystals (TM) update we've been told "teh community" loves so much. We’ll keep you posted. Don't call us, we'll call you."

*chuckles, joking*

Prim Perfect Launches More Than Magazine

May 3rd 2007 2:40PM Because the people who benefit from Ubuntu are far more worthy than libsecondlife could ever hope to be. Go get a second or third job, you slackers.
(- grin, joking, etc. -)

Damn, I really wanted that ship. *pouts*

But I was amazed to see so much was raised for such a good cause. And a great idea for a magazine launch, too.

Second Life Vigilantes

Dec 18th 2006 1:39PM What happens when LL doesn't want to actively deal with griefers (those who break the "law" - TOS)? What choice is left for those of us who have to put up with their actions on a regular basis?

Vigilantism as a solution? Not a viable option. However, LL could allow us to create a legitimate and licensed policing force to deal with these idiots in places where they're approved to do so. An active neighborhood patrol watch, if you will. Otherwise, we can expect only anarchy to result from the frustrating actions of griefing and other intolerable behavior.

There is a weak and ineffective "justice" system in Second Life. Contacting online help is useless. Reporting unregistered avatars is a waste of time. Ignoring it doesn't solve anything. And LL only deals with the mess after it's occurred. There's a complete lack of proactivity.

Perhaps it's time for some of us who own homes and businesses, and sims and other land holdings, to stand together and create our own protection options.
