Linden Lab considers dropping Panther support

Massively

May 7th 2008 3:13PM When they say "dropping support" for 0.25 % how could they be investing much time to keep the support.... why not just put .25% effort into keeping it for the panther users?

Cinemassively: 2007 ZOMG! That Sux! Award

Jan 3rd 2008 12:47PM I don't think it's as bad as it could have been.. first off, crap, you left your lighting on.... also, there wasn't one point in the video where you lost control of your camera and started shooting the outside walls or the floor... that needs to be there to achieve total crapiness. Also, the audio for Juel could have been lowered meanwhile overtop it we get to hear crap in RL talking to someone or shuffling papers around or knocking over a beer bottle.

Gaming search results - the unwisdom of crowds

Massively

Jan 3rd 2008 12:31PM This form of search gaming would not occur if LL kept the focus on the classifieds. Who can game a system that simply works on the premise of: the more you pay, the more you get.

Classifieds in search should be the #1 factor... instead they're being pushed off to the side. Paying for placement is the only way the search cannot be gamed.

Daniel Terdiman's Entrepreneur's Guide to SL

Second Life Insider

Oct 27th 2007 4:51PM This one is a little iffy to me.... I've not read the book, but if he's qualified to write about being a successful entrepreneur in SL, then I'm qualified to comment on his book without reading it.

To me, this seems like one of those, "i got rich and you can too" infomercials... where you hear a guy talk about these simple easy steps to making you rich and successful. But when I see these guys on the infomercials at 330am all i think is, 'why didn't this guy just follow his own successful steps and get rich? Instead he's peddling books and CDs on how to do it at 330 in the morning.'

I'm sure the book is a good read, and I'm sure anyone will come away with some helpful tips. But it seems to me the info inside won't be reliable source bases and experience based if the author has yet to do it themselves and be successful.

CSI game - first thoughts

Second Life Insider

Oct 24th 2007 2:01PM I'm sorry, but I'm getting more and more confused by the second with all this CSI:NY & SL hubbub. ...and I'm sure I'm not alone.
There's a lot of info to take in, and it's just overwhelming and frustrating.

I think these tie-ins and alternate reality games work best when they're kept simple. The premise of the RL TV show plot needs to solve a crime in SL I get. The idea that viewers can go into SL and play this find-a-clue game during the series' hiatus I get.
What I don't get is EVERYTHING else! Why is there a licensed new SL CSI viewer? Why does it need over 300 new sims? It just feels like there's soooooo much surrounding this promo game that very few are going to be able to follow the intention of the game.
But, we'll see soon enough. To some, it sounds intriguing. To me, i'm just scared to even begin cause I won't get it.

5 Companies Who Need Virtual Worlds

Second Life Insider

Oct 23rd 2007 10:42PM Well, besides the fact that I don't like the idea of more virtual worlds, because I think it's a waste of talent when it becomes a competition to feed a company's god-complex, here's some worlds I'd check out if they existed:

Wonka Candy
Parker Brothers
Netflix, Blockbuster, or some other mass-movie watching world
