Aug 14th 2007 3:21PM I'm suprised at the number of bloggers bewailing the fall of OT - he's been running kickback schemes in Central City ever since he was District "B" Councilman. Chris Rose's column today is typical of the attitude - "but he was nice! He acted and played basketball like an honest guy!" Oliver really had a lot of people snowed. He's a crook, pure and simple. He ripped us off.
And this is how the Feds work, too - take your time, start at the bottom and work your way up. The indictments are coming faster now and getting more visible (Oliver was a sitting elected official; they didn't wait for his term to end) - that tells me that they're closing in on whoever the final target is. Wonder how many they'll roll up on the way?

Aug 10th 2007 2:35AM I REALLY wanted to see this show but sadly was out of town (and will miss his Friday night show in Nashville as I return to NOLA.) Thanks for the writeup, Amanda.
And from what I remember of the movie, he's WAY crazy.

Jul 19th 2007 3:12AM It reminds me of Magazine St 15 years ago before all the yuppies moved in and opened designer doggie stores. *sigh*
Right, when the St. Thomas projects were still open and the dude walked into Pie In The Sky on lower Magazine and murdered one of the employees. Good times.

Jul 16th 2007 1:52PM Ok, my bad - the homeowner in question is praising the Bank for helping him recover the items.

Jul 16th 2007 12:18AM If you don't want to do business with Ricca's, fine, but I wouldn't be so quick to give the Bank a clean bill of health based solely on your personal experience there. The post I cited specifically details re-sale of architectural items stolen from a property in Treme - not taken from debris piles. And it is illegal to post signage of the nature of the Bank's - people spend quite a bit of time removing them, as permitted under the law.
