Second Life Insider

Apr 3rd 2007 2:17AM Thank you for the post regarding My SL Project and the suggestion regarding the average price. We have changed this to say "average price per hour" instead of per project. That does make more sense.

As far as the name, we kicked around several. Our goal though was to keep the whole site as simple as possible and we settled on that name just because we felt it gave a clear image of what the site was about. It is unfortunate that the name is similar to another recently opened Second Life site. At the time we purchased the domain and started work on our site however, the site with a similar name wasn't there.

We started the freelance project site because when those of us involved were Second Life newbies, we looked in vain for a Second Life themed rent-a-coder type of venue to find assistance. Even now after learning and completing several projects, there are still times when easy to locate help is needed. In addition, in talking with people who have skills in the various areas important in-world, we noticed a belief (valid or not)among service providers that unless you were a news maker, it was difficult to find opportunities to be involved in projects. At My SL Project, we like to think that anyone with a skill, no matter how basic or advanced, has a shot at finding a project that they can be involved in.

From our experience, we believe the need is there. The difficult part will be getting the word out so that people will know where they can go to post their projects. Posting a project is, and will always be completely free, people who have a project or idea have nothing to lose by posting it. We hope the site is well used.

Thanks again,
My SL Project
