Nov 3rd 2007 10:19AM Hmm...

Second Life Insider - simple, informed and informative, engaging, reasonable amount of advertising...

Massively - UGLY, FLASH-OVERLOAD, editorial buried alive in adverts, over-ambitious (do one thing well not everything poorly)...and did i mention ugly?

Goodbye, it was nice...it really was... :(

Second Life services experiencing widespread failure

Oct 28th 2007 6:14PM What's the highest ever concurrency figure? At the moment of writing we're at 55,851 which is the highest I've ever seen.

What's the record? Could the CSI fallout be about to break it, if it hasn't already?

Oct 22nd 2007 8:06AM ...and they changed them to look like Windoze XP silver theme from 5 years ago. There is NO WAY anything that UGLY is getting on my Mac.

The UI needs a massive overhaul but changes need to be made in its basic functionality (or lack of it) and not just by giving it a hideous paint-job.

Ginko really and truly dead, WSE launches "WTF" fraud fund. Pundits unimpressed.

Oct 20th 2007 4:59PM Hi, I'm a noobie....short pause....

Hi, now I'm a bank, so give me your money and I'll take care of it for you!

Uhm, so what's wrong with this scenario?

Engineers Will Love SL, But ...

Oct 18th 2007 9:06AM I'll probably be shot down in flames for suggesting this, but how about...

Make more complex build tools, including import options, available to premium paying members only!

The existing build-tools should always be available to everyone but more advanced options could be a great incentive to become a premium member, especially for content producers. These could include import options, personal local backups (of items you make inworld), unlimited IM's (to keep in touch with customers), more group slots, more group options (like better employer/employee options) etc etc.

Trying to run even a small hobby-business in SL is continually hampered and limited by stupid limitations placed in the system by LL. They need to remove these limitations - at least for those of us willing to make a (small) regular financial commitment to SL.

What to do with Megaprims

Second Life Insider

Oct 12th 2007 10:09PM Re: Havoc 4

There was a comment made by a Linden (sorry don't have the link to hand) that in their (admittedly unscientific) testing, megaprims were no more resource hungry than the standard prims would be in an object of the same size.

It seems we all assume that one huge prim causes more processor load than, for example, 4 standard ones arranged in the same shape - but maybe there isn't much evidence of it?

Fun with ad parcel owners

Oct 4th 2007 6:51PM It'll take the Lindens approximately 3 years to move your trees.
They're quite busy. So...

Plant more.

Let's all plant more, around every ad-farm we can find.
Plant trees and be damned....

Welcome EU residents, by the way, we're charging VAT!

Sep 27th 2007 8:07PM Another little nail in the coffin? :)

Do euro-land-owners now increase their rents accordingly to cover the extra costs, puting themselves at a disadvantage in the market? At first It sounds like it could bump up prices but it will probably do the opposite - we'll probably buy less land and/or sell some we already have to reduce overheads.

Another dive for land prices and little another nail?

Foaming rant includes SL

Buy Anshe's stuff for L$10

Second Life Insider

Sep 13th 2007 1:06PM It's not an advertising ploy - it's an attempt to force up land prices again. A prim-ploy?

The more items you buy, the more prims you use, the more land you need, the more land you buy or rent.

She's trying to offset the ban on gambling, the Linden land glut and sculpted objects prim-efficiency....and she seems a bit desparate to me.

If she cared about making SL better then start a 10Linden LAND project, she has enough of it - rent land to startup businesses for L$10 per week until they get going. But what is she doing instead? Chopping the legs off those same businesses.
