Is Second Life one of the few, true MMORPGs?

Massively

Dec 1st 2007 7:25PM A long time ago I heard the term "Narrative Gaming" thrown out as a better definition for what we call "Role Playing Games".

Anyway, I agree. Second Life and other sandbox games make better RPGs than most true "RPGS". I've argued before that GTA: San andreas is a better RPG than say, Final Fantasy 12. You can run around and do more or less whatever you want in SA.

Even more importantly, SA handles stats better than most RPGs. They are pretty dynamic as a whole and more importantly, increase as they are used and not based on some arbitrary "level". Use you're pistols more than your shotgun? Your pistol stats will be super high. Drive a lot, you actually improve! Want to be fat? Eat 20 burger, though chances are you'll cause your character to puke if you do.

DS Daily: Reliability

DS Fanboy

Sep 16th 2007 10:40AM The only unreliable console I have is my NES which is almost to be expected.

That includes my DS.

Ok, technically me PS2 has trouble playing disks with a blue tint on the back like Frequency.

Sep 14th 2007 10:20AM I'd rather just have the characters be playable again at the end I think. Part of what was nice in FF4 was that the characters couldn't become "uber carbon copies".

I suppose if only certain characters can learn certain moves it might be ok.

Anyway, Rydia went and become all "hot" somewhere along the line.

Digimon: Day versus night

Aug 30th 2007 6:52PM On the Pokemon vs Digimon issue, Digimon is a lot different than Pokemon. I actually prefer the Digimon show myself. At least Series 1 and 3.

Anyway, Digimon World 1 was the worst game I have ever played aside from that NES Back to the Future Game. I will never touch another Digimon game ever again.

Level-5 bringing soccer RPG to the DS

Aug 29th 2007 6:45PM This isn't the first Soccer RPG. I think there was one on the NES.

Short avatars threatened with reprisals

Second Life Insider

Jul 20th 2007 12:15PM Where should we stop? Why discriminate against the short AVs?

Why not make all old AVs age verify? We shouldn't let them promote elderly abuse with thier possible acts of sex.

I think all furry AVs should send a photo ID in to Linden to verify they are really fox/wolf people and not just humans. Bestiality and all.

Hell let's make everyone send photos and birth certificates in to make sure their AVs are all the proper sex/hair color/skin color/etc.

Now that is a bit of a stretch unless they are wanting age verification because the person in question was engaging in sex based conduct. Suspending people at random for using short AVs is lame.

Harry Potter and the Combined Order for Free Shipping

Jul 18th 2007 11:02AM Two things.

One, at least int he theaters in this area, Tickets for adults are the same as tickets for a child.

Two, I really hope that huge ugly ad isn't a permenant part of he packaging. I don't plan on picking up the game but still, I hate when game manufacturers (or movie and CD publishers) put ugly crap like that on the boxes.

Guess what, as soon as you get the game, there's likely no more ticket! Instead you get a spiffy darkish game cover design with a huge ugly red advertisement smack in the middle. It's almost as bad as that ugly green greatest hits PS1 crap.

Vote For moo!

DS Daily: The lost Color

May 11th 2007 10:09AM I still have an original flavor GBA and a big "phat" white Gameboy.

I actually used my original gameboy recently to play Castlevania Adventure 1 and 2.

Also I've got a Gameboy Camera to toy around with.

As for favorite classics, Link's Awakening is certainly up there as is Tetris.
